Monica Tang

Biography

Monica Tang is a Hong Kong–born collaborative pianist and répétiteur specializing in opera and art song. Her international career spans Europe, the United States, and Asia, with performances in Austria, Germany, Italy, Sweden, the USA, and China, including appearances at the Musikverein Wien.

Her operatic profile was distinguished by her selection for the Solti-Peretti Répétiteur Course at the Georg Solti Accademia in Italy. She has also served as a collaborative pianist fellow at Musiktheater Bavaria and the Berlin Opera Academy, and worked as a répétiteur for Musica Viva and the Pro Arte Orchestra of Hong Kong, where she specialized in operatic and orchestral repertoire.

As a choral pianist, she prepared the University of Maryland Concert Choir for performances with the National Symphony Orchestra and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Her ensemble collaborations further include the Thomas Circle Singers in Washington, D.C., and the Hong Kong Bach Choir.

A recipient of the Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme, Monica holds a Master of Music in Collaborative Piano from the University of Maryland and is currently completing a Master’s degree in Art Song Accompaniment at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw). Her artistic development has been shaped by mentors including Rita Sloan, Justus Zeyen, and Helmut Deutsch, and is defined by stylistic sensitivity, linguistic awareness, and a deep commitment to singer-centered collaboration.
