Monica Tang

Biography

Monica Tang is a distinguished pianist and répétiteur from Hong Kong, recognized for her musical sensitivity and versatile collaborative expertise. Her international career spans Europe, the United States, and Asia, where she has performed across Austria, Germany, Italy, Sweden, the USA, and China, appearing at prestigious venues including the Musikverein Wien.

Her operatic career was highlighted by her selection for the Solti-Peretti Répétiteur Course at the Georg Solti Accademia in Italy. She also served as a collaborative pianist fellow at Musiktheater Bavaria and the Berlin Opera Academy, and worked as a répétiteur for Musica Viva and the Pro Arte Orchestra of Hong Kong, where she specialized in orchestral reductions.

As a choral pianist, Monica prepared the University of Maryland Concert Choir for collaborations with the National Symphony Orchestra and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Her ensemble experience further included work with the award-winning Thomas Circle Singers in Washington D.C. and the Hong Kong Bach Choir.

A "Hong Kong Scholar," Monica was a recipient of the Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme. She earned a Master of Music in Collaborative Piano from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Arts from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Following an exchange at Örebro University in Sweden, she is currently completing a Master of Arts in Art Song Accompaniment at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw). Her artistic development has been shaped by intensive study with celebrated mentors, including Rita Sloan, Justus Zeyen, and Helmut Deutsch.
